在2004年底發行《Love. Angel. Music. Baby./愛.天使.音樂.寶貝.》專輯而躍升為新一代音樂時尚流行教主的Gwen Stefani在產後帶來了新專輯《The Sweet Escape》。當年無心插柳的個人side project《Love. Angel. Music. Baby./愛.天使.音樂.寶貝.》在No Doubt隊友兼前男友Tony Kanal(貝斯手)的協助下，找來了Nellee Hooper、Dallas Austin、 Dr. Dre、Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis及Outkast的Andre 3000等黃金陣容，打造出融合了嘻哈與R&B，且充滿了80年代氣息的復古搖滾風。結合Gwen Stefani獨特的自製時尚品牌L.A.M.B，旋風般地橫掃全球時尚界與音樂界，全球銷售量更超過七百萬張，獲得五項葛萊美獎提名，在排行榜上居高不下。
在與老公Gavin Rossdale(Bush主唱)於今年五月產下一子後，第二張個人專輯《The Sweet Escape》總算甜蜜出關，新專輯維持王牌製作陣容，找來了The Neptunes、Nellee Hooper、和老搭檔Tony Kanal擔任製作。首支單曲【Wind It Up】以經典電影「真善美」為引子鋪陳出一首跳感十足的碎拍舞曲，與阿肯合作的同名單曲【The Sweet Escape】維持了流暢動人的曲調，與基音樂團鋼琴手Tim合作的【Early Winter】則是流露著絲絲感傷氣息的英倫搖滾情歌，鋼琴聲靈巧地與Gwen獨特的鼻音氣息嗓音交融在一塊。與嘻哈大將Swizz Beatz合作的【Now That You Got It】則沒太多讓人驚喜的部份，只是大抵維持了一貫的流行嘻哈曲風而已。
而與前男友Tony Kanal合作的【4 In The Morning】則是一首耐聽的動人情歌。【Yummy】一曲與The Neptunes裡的嘻哈型男菲董(Pharrell)合唱，曲風相當多元豐富，碎拍節奏底韻融合著印度節奏，菲董跟Gwen碎唸著歌曲，Gwen的兒子Kingston更跨刀客串裡面的Baby合音，末段轉為工業聲的節奏變化讓人更加感到驚喜有趣。也是由Tony Kanal操刀的【Fluorescent】則透露著濃濃的80年代Synth-Pop曲風，將Old is New的精神發揮到極致。【Breakin’up】裡的黑暗氣息則顯得有點牽強老梗。與葛萊美創作才女Linda Perry合作的【Wonderful Life】也是首出色的復古80年代Synth-Pop曲風。想必也是，因為裡頭有著經典樂團Depeche Mode的Martin Gore客串彈起吉他，怎能不悅耳呢？
有了絕佳的第一張專輯在先，通常會使藝人陷入 空前壓力的第二張魔咒顯然沒有在Gwen身上發生太大效應，Gwen依然交出令人滿意的新作，畢竟身為南加州Ska Rock樂團No Doubt主唱的她，早已經歷過了不少風浪。接下來Gwen將重返No Doubt，且讓我們拭目以待。
